Getting started with Release Manager

Take the very first steps to use Release Manager for Jira.



Installing the app

You can install the Release Manager for Jira app from the Atlassian Marketplace by clicking the “Get it now” button on the top right corner of the page.

Setting up the app

Once the app is installed on your project, you can start the initial setup to add the custom field “Release Versions” to your Jira Issues fields.

Instructions:

  1. Select [Site Settings] > Work items.

  2. Under FIELDS, select Fields.

  3. Find “Release Versions,” then click the context menu [···] and select “Add field to screen.”

  4. Select all screens and save (to get the field on all projects).



Creating your first Version

You can create and manage versions from the Release Manager home page, which is accessible from the project navigation or the Apps menu in Jira’s main navigation.

The first time you open the app, you’ll see an empty screen prompting you to create your first Version.

Instructions:

  • Click the “Create version” button.

  • Type the name for the Version.

  • [Optional] Add a start and end date.

  • [Optional] Add a description.

  • Click the “Save” button.

 

You’ve just created your first Version. You can now create mmultiple versions and start adding them to your issues.
